Our Fellows either implement a new project in one of the 12 thematic program areas or continue an alumni's project, if feasible. The project selection is done on basis of their interest and skill set. Browse through the projects to know more about their work.

TRADITIONAL CRAFTS
SBI Youth for India recognizes the importance of culture and its role in the development of any nation. Unfortunately, India’s traditional crafts have been marginalized by cheaper mass-produced alternatives. Many art forms have been lost and traditions continue to die every day. Our Fellows work hand in hand with our partner NGOs to achieve capacity building to support livelihoods and preservation of tribal culture and art forms to ensure their sustainability.

Yashu CK: Fellow set up a Handmade Camel Milk Soap Unit for alternate income generation for a camel herder community at Jaisalmer, Rajasthan
Swati Singh: Fellow worked on reviving traditional crafts for alternate income generation in rural Punjab.
Paraardha Goel: Fellow worked on the overall well-being of women weavers in Phulia, West Bengal.
Saloni Sacheti: Fellow established ‘Bansuli’ – a bamboo artisan’s socio-economic upliftment initiative.
Nishit Sangomla: To generate the demand for Rural Handicrafts through developing new product designs, setting up an E-Commerce website and additionally improving the livelihood of artisans.
Shruti Namboodiri: To setup sustainable livelihood bamboo artisans through developing newer and marketable designs of bamboo jewelry. Focus on efficient production and creating marketing linkages for the same.
Swecha Poladi: Imparting traditional knowledge and teaching bio-diversity conservation techniques to students through demonstrations.

ALTERNATE ENERGY
Electricity consumption per capita in rural areas is one of the lowest in the world mainly because of unavailability, which in turn, has an adverse effect on agricultural productivity. In today’s scenario, where the adverse effects of global warming are clearly visible, there is a dire need for sustainable energy sources. SBI Youth for India Fellows have worked on projects that encourage the use of bio-diesel, smokeless chullahs, and solar photovoltaic applications to provide rural households with access to renewable energy.

Here's a list of projects being mplemented by SBI YFI Fellows:
Ashish Krishna Pandey: Fellow worked towards creating a Community Credit Empowered Solar Home System at Kalvarayan, Tamil Nadu.
Srinivas Ethiraj: Fellow built an efficient manure value chain using bio-methanation and vermicomposting techniques at Tilonia, Rajasthan.
Eshaan Patheria: Fellow initiated and revived the ‘Maligaon Solar Energy Micro-Grid project’- that provides 24×7 access to electricity to all of the people of Maligaon, Odisha.
Saurabh Karodi: Setting up a Micro-Enterprise for the manufacturing and sales of solar home lighting products and increasing its reach along with developing a strong service and delivery backbone.
Suraj Hiremath: To assess the availability of raw materials in Kherwara block to make biomass briquettes and to explore the possibilities of setting up a social enterprise.
Manish Kumar Dwivedi: Promotion of smokeless chullahs under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).

RURAL LIVELIHOOD
Agrarian crisis is increasing in India and farmers cannot depend on farming as the only source of income. Through our partner NGOs, SBI Youth for India Fellows work towards delivering innovative solutions to provide a sustainable livelihood for the community. This is done through measures like promoting organic processes, capacity building of community members, value addition to production and marketing processes, adoption of improved farming practices and others.

Yashu CK: Fellow set up a Handmade Camel Milk Soap Unit for alternate income generation for a camel herder community at Jaisalmer, Rajasthan
Shweta Azad: Fellow initiated the Kaziranga Tourism Project by bringing the indegeious community, especially women, to the forefront. Through the concept of ‘Ghar-Ghar Museum’, showcasing tribal lifestyle, food, culture and traditions, the concept of eco-tourism was introduced.
Bidyapathi Ray: Fellow created a sustainable livelihood model for rural women by setting up a social enterprise that produces and markets a traditional nutritional supplement that alleviates Anemia in women and Malnourishment in children at Ajmer, Rajasthan.
Shruti Namboodiri: Fellow promoted of Bamboo Jewelry making as a sustainable alternative livelihood for the Artisans of Dagadpada at Dangs, Gujarat.
Piyush Kuhikar: Promotion of livelihood activities such as beekeeping and nursery.
Kishan Mahipal: To strengthen the women SHG and develop plans for generating livelihood possibilities with the SHGs and in general.
Gyan Prakash: To implement operations excellence processes in the Cattle Feed Unit (CFU) run by women SHG members.

TECHNOLOGY
The application of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the rural sector has been relatively slow owing to poor ICT infrastructure, lack of awareness and local language issues. ICT has huge scope for innovation and application. It also has immense application across thematic areas from healthcare, education, climate, weather and emergency response activities to supporting livelihoods. SBI Youth for India Fellows have used ICT as a means to combat rural poverty and foster sustainable development through creating empowered societies and supporting livelihoods.

Shreyas Prakash: Fellow enabled rural children and youth to develop appropriate technologies using locally available resources at Lobhi, Maharashtra.
S. Lalit: Fellow worked on an Automatic Weather Station- building technology & livelihood of the community at Gajapati, Odisha
Tasnim Jahan: Fellow created Legal Awareness through Community Journalism at Kottampatti, Tamil Nadu
Prateeksha Tiwari: Integrating ICT in primary education by introducing One Monitor, Several Mice concept in learning.
Venkata Siva Prasad Chitta: Setting up an agro digital clinic to tackle agrarian problems digitally in the village of Kotra, Udaipur.
Krishna Thiruvengadam: Enabling rural kids and youth to develop appropriate technologies using locally available resources through design thinking.
Chinmoy Chawdhury: Technological innovation in agriculture to reduce drudgery – designing a mechanical harvester.

FOOD SECURITY
To fuel the growth of our country, it is crucial to ensure enough food reserves for the billion-strong population. SBI Youth for India Fellows are active in this field and working towards guaranteed food security and self-reliance at the grass root.

Ann Elizabeth: Fellow Introduced Rosemary as a crop on experimental basis at Harara, Uttarakhand
Rudresh Dahiya: Fellow initiated ‘Har Ghar Bhumi’ – an income-generating pickle brand to better the lives of women farmers at Munger, Bihar.
Sai Nikam: Fellow provided training and handholding support to beneficiaries of mini orchards for intercropping and pest management at Morigaon, Assam.
Harshitha Prakash: To empower farmers by incorporating the best practices for a sustainable production via zero budget natural farming and create a market for their produce.
Divya Chirayath: To promote seed conservation of groundnut through a community seed bank.
Ramandeep Singh: To improve food security by setting up perrenial kitchen gardens.

WATER
30% of the rural population still lack access to safe drinking water. The growing water crisis enhances the importance of Water Resources Management (WRM). Our partner NGOs have Watershed Development projects in selected village clusters to provide drinking water security, to boost agriculture and livestock production, particularly for the benefit of weaker sections of society.

Reshwin Washington: Fellow worked on the Ground water recharge via rainwater harvesting at Bodoland, Assam.
Vishvak Kannan: Fellow created a holistic training methodology for building cadre of para-hydrogeologists at Nirmand, Himachal Pradesh
Ashvath Kunadi: Recharging and researching springs, and creating awareness about the same.
Dadi Jaswanth: Inclusion of different essential parameters (Alkalinity, Turbidity and Bacteriological Tests) to check the quality of water and to design a model to purify contaminated water.
Abhilash Vijay Kurey: Water conservation and management through the promotion of rainwater harvesting.
Shashank Singh: Developing a pond for rainwater harvesting in the Chotta Naraina village of Rajasthan.
Vikram Singh: To meet the water demand of community by natural resources under water secure Gram Panchayat
Pragrati Sambrani: To improve the community health and drinking water resources through Children’s Empowerment.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
Our Fellows have adopted a very holistic approach to implementing diverse projects that promote sustainable development. Their projects are helping not only to cut down the causes of pollution but are also trying to generate alternative sources of employment.

Nisha Rani: Fellow worked on creating Farmers friendly solutions for agricultural waste management and study of fuelwood consumption & impact of smokeless stoves on women in Kolli Hills, Tamil Nadu.
Rakhshit: Fellow set up of Community based Kitchen Garden in Night School in Ajmer, Rajasthan.
Arsh Saluja: Fellow facilitated the Strengthening of Sustainable Fishing Practices and Mangrove Conservation through Traditional Fishing Canal Restoration.
Kavya Raman: To create a committee in the village that promotes cleanliness and healthy living through WASH (waste, sanitation, and hygiene) awareness and setting up of waste management systems.
Sindhu M Sudarshan: Setting up Youth Eco-Clubs for promoting improved water, sanitation, and hygiene practices.
Shifali Khurana: Promoting eco-tourism through homestays to revive spice and tea tourism in the area.
Aarati Singh: To implement of community forest right provisions and governance in Patiya Village, Udaipur, Rajasthan.

SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP
In rural areas, migration is at an all-time high due to fewer employment opportunities. SBI Youth for India Fellows understands the importance of creating sustainable employment opportunities in rural areas. SBI YFI Fellows along with the partner NGOs work with local youth, farming communities and women to encourage and foster entrepreneurs.

Nupur Poharkar: Fellow set up ‘Pirul’ – a traditional crafts enterprise in order to create an alternative livelihood for the women of Khetikhan, Uttarakhand.
Pallavi Kundu: Fellow assisted in the development of a tribal women centric food processing unit and creation of value chain development unit at Kolli Hills, Tamil Nadu.
Yashu CK: Fellow set up an enterprise called ‘CamelRaj’ – a social enterprise that makes handmade camel milk soaps that is aimed to help camel herders continue rearing camels at Pokhran, Rajasthan.
Phaguni Joshi: Fellow set up ‘Karmaar’ – bamboo craft making enterprise as an alternate source of income at Balasore district, Odisha.
Ashwini Rajkumar: Promotion of reusable cloth pads to adolescent girls and women through social entrepreneurship, stitching workshops, and awareness sessions.
Ankush Jindal: To develop and implement an eco-friendly, sustainable and community-owned model of rural tourism in Dangs district, Gujarat.
Soumya Mohil: Training ‘Pashu Sakhis’ to build salt bricks to supplement cattle feed as an alternate income generation activity.
Karan Saran: Streamlining and commercialization of various value-added millet products under single umbrella for enhancing production and sustainability of enterprise.
L Thungbeni Murry: Promotion of cluster based inland fishery enterprise in Dang.

HEALTH
Our Fellows are assisting Primary Health Centres (PHC) in addressing health-related issues with a specific focus on maternity care, child care, safe drinking water, and sanitation with support from our partner NGOs, who work through a network of community health workers and government agencies

Rasagnamishra: Fellow worked on the Promotion of WASH(Water Sanitation and Hygine) and Menstrual Hygiene Management in schools through curriculum designing and classroom paractices.
Shalmai Ghasias: Fellow worked on Supplementing nutritional intake and meeting food security by optimal utilisation and consumption of soybean at the household levele at Barwani Pradesh.
Basant Kumar: To create awareness of Sickle Cell Anaemia in Didiyapada block of Narmada District, Gujarat
Angel Konthoujam: Understanding the needs of the Kotwalia tribal women and adolescents w.r.t menstruation and designing a holistic solution for the same.
Dr. Steward Gracian: To create and promote health based modules in school.
Monalisa Padhe: Improving maternal and child health through digital initiatives.
Simren Singh: To augment supplementary income of tribal women by training them to make eco-friendly, handmade sanitary cloth napkins for self-use and local sale.
Kiran Dayal: Creating Awareness about Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), towards a behavioral shift in menstrual practices by introducing need-based design and safe reusable pads linking it to the patchwork technique at Kumbaya, a garment fabrication unit.

SELF GOVERNANCE
Rural areas and urban areas need different policies to address issues. It is critical to keep in mind the interests of rural communities and encourage their role in policymaking. SBI Youth for India Fellows understand the importance of local self-governance and with our partner NGOs work towards uniting communities, ensuring participation of weaker sections in socio-economic development to ensure the long-term sustainability of the development process through community ownership.

Dipankar Das: Fellow developed Under DHAN Panchayat Development Foundation to develop model panchayat in availing and accessing entitlements.
Tanvi Sharma: Fellow formed a child ‘parliament-based’ learning centre to develop leadership skills in the children of Kalahandi, Odisha.
Neethi Saravan Seshadri: Fellow Strengthened the role of block and zonal federation in Jhadol, Rajasthan
Nikhilesh Joshi: Study sessions for secondary students at the village level through Panchayat sponsorship.
Rumani Sheth: Understanding the gaps in the local government health infrastructure and addressing them through engagement with community health workers and village health and nutrition committees.
Minisha B Trivedi: Capacity building of Sarpanches to improve participation in the Gram Panchayat.
Roopa Sharma: Obtaining ID cards for illiterate persons whose fingerprints have been erased to enable them to obtain their pension and other government entitlements.
Ramansh: Strengthening the Forest Rights of the Community Forest through the Self Governance system.
Shivani Varma: Convergence on Land and Water Resource Development aligned with MGNREGA

WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT
Women in rural India have limited access to education, economic independence, sanitation and basic human rights. It is imperative that women be integrated into rural India’s growth story. SBI Youth for India Fellows have worked on creating sustainable income sources for eliminating poverty and encouragement or grass root entrepreneurship. Not only does it increase self-reliance, it also helps to address the issue of economic viability and scalability.

Ann Maria Sabu: Fellow promoted forest products and trained women entrepreneurs at Kotra, Rajasthan.
Manjary S: Fellow worked on the creation of ‘Migrant Forum’ – A collective of Migrant dependents at Kalahandi, Odisha.
Dayal Munda: Fellow facilitated the training on tailoring and sewing for a woman group, as a source of alternate income in Ajmer, Rajasthan.
Shriti Pandey: Improving value chain and marketing of Pandhana Pashu Palak Company-an all women-led Farmer Producer Company (FPO).
Brindha Nagarajan: Women Empowerment through menstrual awareness and setting up of a cloth pad social enterprise.
Sneha Srinivasan: Improving livelihood of women SHGs through promotion of tribal food centers called Naharis.

EDUCATION
Our Fellows have worked in diverse fields to impart education in rural areas. From computer education to setting up a mobile library and from sex education to e-learning, SBI Youth for India Fellows has brought ineffective means of enhancing literacy.

Ankit Jain: Fellow built the behavioural capacity of children through sports, arts & other engaging activities by setting up a Sports centre in Bortandu, Assam
Pratishtha Paney: Fellow worked on the Development of the aesthetic, creative and literacy skills of children at Koinpur, Odisha.
Uzdah Jawaid: Fellow worked on the wholesome development of the youth by promoting sport, inculating reading habits, promoting music, games and self-defence amongst women at Chirag Assam.
Dibyajyoti Gogoi: To increase community youth engagement and participation through Youth Resource Centers(YRC) and to chart a village Youth Development Plan (YDP) in Kotra, Rajasthan.
Nitesh Bhardwaj: To create social awareness on different issues by using various communication tools
Naman ansal: Teaching life and computer skills to school childern through the medium of storytelling.
Sunayana M Chatrapathy: To create effective and fun learning methods for teaching and learning English to widen the scope of education and job opportunities post high school for students from tribal backgrounds.
Shalini Krishan: To create a space for Art. Design and Create exploration for trial children through a curriculum related to art.
Swatiska: To teach in school students from 6th-12th Standard and bring forth a magazine as an outcome.
Janvi Rathod: To promote use of saura language and culture within say to day activities of the students.
